Gallup Park will be a great site for spring painting and provides a beautiful setting along the Huron River and Geddes Pond. This 69-acre park is Ann Arbors' most popular recreation area and includes scenic walkways that traverse small islands with pedistrian bridges. This historic site is located in the "Lakes Area" headwaters of the Shiawassee River in southern Genesee county. A feature of this scenic town is the mill complete with water wheel on Tupper Lake, created by a dam on its creek. The sawmill dates to 1840 and the downtown features old Victorian buildings and will be an excellent site to gather for a day of painting.

We will be gathering together to share two lovely sites for painting; one a 20 acre property in Shelby that includes a stream in the woods, a spring-fed pond with a small island, vegetable and flower gardens, a pergola, and a shelter with a green roof. The other property, a beach house is almost in view of Little Point Sable light house in Mears. Located between the two are country roads with orchards and farms with old barns,lots of landscape options.

Join us for a painting opportunity in the beautiful UP on the Garden Peninsula west of St. Ignace. This site features a lime- stoned cliffed harbor which has been restored by a local group from Hubbardston. The harbor hasn't seen an ore boat in over 100 years but will be perfect as a site for painting over- looking Lake Michigan.

SEPTEMBER 18-20 (FRI/SAT/SUN) TRAVERSE CITY |
|
Let's get together to explore the northern lower peninsula- the Traverse City and Old Mission area will be the site for our end-of-summer painting meet. The many views of beaches, water, orchards and vineyards will provide abundant plein air painting sites to consider.

Artists attending the Williamston painting meet will have several options to select from including beautiful views of the Red Cedar river and picturesque Maple Ridge farm. Williamston is located in the heart of "horse country" with lovely rolling hills, fields and woods.

|
Located in Ionia county Bertha Brock Park includes over four miles of hiking trails and streams crossed by three stone bridges. With its rolling hills and deep woods this site affords many colorful fall painting opportunities.

In an effort to present more frequent and local painting meets we will be gathering on the last Saturday of the month and will alternate between Okemos and Howell for the 09 season.
There is no registration required for these informal outings.
The schedule is as follows:
OKEMOS HOWELL May 30 June 27 July 25 August 29 September 26 October 31
For these meets we will be meeting @ 0830 @ McDonald's near the exits off I-96 and decide where to paint from there. There will be no formal critique at the end of the day for these meets.
